Towards

Towards the next generation smart body patches

It is the ambition of the ULIMPIA project to bring together recent innovations in MEMS ultra-sound and wearable device technology to create an open technology platform for the next generation smart body patches that cannot only sense the surface of the skin, but that can also look deep inside the body. It will enable E-health solutions that will make patients more independent from hospitals and care takers allowing them to stay longer in their home environment.

This video shows the wireless, battery power ultrasound patch demonstrator realized in the ULIMPIA.
The patch is based on a CMUT transducer array and driven by a dedicated ASIC that is suitable for A-mode, B-Mode, as well as beam steering acquisition. Here the patch is programmed to measure the bladder content of a bladder phantom.
